Do I need to have research experience to apply?
No! All you need is a desire to learn new skills and advance professionally. We hope applicants will use the program to learn or further develop research skills for future careers in STEM.

How long does the program last?
The program lasts 1 year; running August 1st, 2025 - July 31st, 2026 for the 2026 cohort.
Where does the program take place?
UConn RaMP takes place at the Storrs Campus of the University of Connecticut.
Can I apply if I graduate in May 2026? What are the eligibility requirements?
- Yes! Applicants graduating in May 2026 are welcome to apply to join to the 2026 RaMP Cohort.
- Current undergraduate juniors, sophomore, and freshmen or graduate students are ineligible.
- Rising seniors or recent graduates who have already been accepted into a graduate program are also ineligible to apply.
- Other NSF program requirements include:
- U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents
- BA or BS in life sciences or a related field—such as biology, environmental sciences, chemistry, geography, data science, engineering, physics, etc.
- Have completed your undergraduate degree within 4 years of the program start date (extensions allowed for family, medical or military leave)
What is the stipend?
Scholars receive a yearly stipend of $35,000, paid monthly. Scholars also receive health insurance (paid by the program) if necessary.

When can I expect to receive a response on my application?
Applicants for the 2026 cohort can expect to hear an initial response on their application in late March 2025 with final decisions in April 2025.
How many scholars will be in the 2026 cohort?
We hope to host 10-12 scholars in the 2026 cohort of RaMP.
Does RaMP provide housing for participants?
No. RaMP does not provide housing to scholars, but the program coordinator is available as a resource to assist incoming scholars in finding affordable housing options.
